What should be noted when installing broken-bridge aluminum doors and windows? Today, it is my turn to give you a brief introduction.
I. Sealing
1. Corner seal strips (gasket strips):
The seal strips should avoid being joined at the corners. The corner seal strips should be designed as a 90-degree integrated gasket strip.
2. Frame and sash seal strips:
The opening sash area should be designed with three seal strips, namely the main seal strip, the sash flange seal strip, and the frame flange seal strip.
II. Waterproofing
1. Windows must be equipped with drainage channels, drainage outlets, and exhaust holes (pressure balance holes) to drain the accumulated water inside the window frame and sash. The outer side of the drainage outlet should be equipped with a cover to prevent strong winds from blowing in rain and dust into the sash.
2. Insulation strips should adopt a C-shaped structure, combined with the inner and outer aluminum profiles on the same horizontal plane. This avoids water accumulation at the insulation strip causing leakage and corrosion risks. At the same time, it can increase the length of the insulation strip to improve the thermal performance.
3. Window opening dimensions: The reserved structural openings should not be too large to avoid difficulties in sealing and potential leakage risks.
4. Interlocking: Window openings should be sealed with interlocking. In special cases, such as when the exterior wall is a stone curtain wall, the reserved dimensions of the opening should be large. It is recommended to make interlocking for the structural openings. The interlocking should be poured together with the concrete wall.
5. Window frame and structural openings: The window frame should be installed vertically. If installed on the outer side, it should be inwardly recessed by 20mm to prevent structural construction errors from causing the window frame to be installed outside the structural skin, resulting in water leakage.
III. Frame and Sash Structure
1. Corner joining: Corner joining is an important process related to the integrity of the window and door.
Mortar application process: Generally, the corner code + mortar joint application process should be adopted. The window corners must not be formed by pressing without mortar application.
Injection process: Corner joining can also adopt the process of corner code + guide groove + injection hole + two-component injection + corner piece to ensure the strength requirements at the corner and prevent deformation and displacement of the window product during transportation and installation.
IV. Thermal Insulation
1. The cavity design of the profiles: The profiles should adopt a multi-cavity structure to reduce heat loss. At the same time, the thermal insulation components of the window should be on the same horizontal plane to form an overall thermal insulation surface and eliminate cold bridges, blocking the heat loss channels.
2. Insulation rubber strips should be installed inside the glass installation groove: The number of air cavities should be increased to reduce heat loss around the insulating glass and between the profiles and the glass, improving the overall insulation effect of the window.
3. The window sash should adopt T-shaped insulation strips: The insulation strips of the sash are designed as T-shaped, with the middle rubber strip overlapping to achieve cold and hot zone division at the connection between the frame and the sash. It is prohibited to directly place the middle rubber strip on the aluminum profile of the sash.
4. The insulation strips should use polyamide 66 (also known as nylon 66).
5. Warm edge strips for glass: Warm edge strips should be installed around the perimeter of the double-pane insulating glass to block the heat dissipation channels of the glass cavity.
6. In regions with high heat transfer coefficient requirements, insulation materials can be added to the insulation cavity of the profiles to meet the K value requirements.
7. Exterior doors:
For the external sliding doors on the first floor of residential buildings leading to the garden, a threshold should be installed. It is prohibited to not install a threshold. The bottom of the door should be sealed with a brush.
For double-sash external sliding doors on the first floor of residential buildings, the two sashes should be interlocked and connected when closed. It is prohibited to leave a gap and seal with a brush.
V. Safety Technology
1. Glass retaining strips: The retaining strips should be installed on the indoor side. It is prohibited to convert an inward-opening window into an outward-opening window to install the retaining strips on the outdoor side to ensure security, safety, and the requirement for glass replacement, without leaving leakage risks.
2. Lock points: To improve the wind pressure resistance and anti-theft performance of the window, the window should adopt multi-point locks. The setting of lock points should meet the requirements of the installation manual of the hardware manufacturer.
3. The size of the unit entrance external door should not be too large to ensure the reliability of the hinges and other hardware components and avoid safety incidents.
