The 5 Hidden Points Where Home Renovation Window Replacement Is Most Likely to Be Cheated On

The window sealant is very thick, and from the surface it looks exactly the same. However, at the concealed positions, substandard work has been done, resulting in numerous hidden problems after occupancy. These five points must be closely monitored.

1. Wall thickness of the profile shrinks: The nominal thickness is 1.8mm, but the actual thickness is only 1.4–1.6mm. Large glass window sashes are prone to deformation and shaking, and do not meet the wind pressure resistance standards.

2. Fake insulation strips: PVC and recycled materials are used instead of pure PA66 for insulation strips, which deform, crack and lose their insulation and soundproofing functions under direct sunlight.

3. Single-layer glass seal: The new national standard requires double-layer sealing and warm edge strips. Many small stores have secretly replaced them with single-layer ordinary aluminum strips, and they will inevitably fog up and get waterlogged within 1–3 years.

4. Substandard rubber strips: Ordinary plastic strips are used instead of EPDM (triple rubber) rubber strips. They become hard in winter and age in summer, causing rapid air leakage and water leakage.

5. Skilled installation: No exterior weatherproof sealant or foam filling is done, the filling is not tight, and there is no drainage slope. Later, water seepage will cause rework with no solution.
